INSIDE OUT

2011-2012
Anti-Violence Theater Marathon.

Pregones Theater is proud to broaden the reach of its work to end domestic violence with the weeklong launch of its Anti-Violence Theater Marathon, starting October 11, 2011@ 7pm. The FREE event includes the premiere of INSIDE OUT, a forum theater play about bullying and anti-gay discrimination in school, and access to a Violence Prevention Information Fair, with a variety of useful resources for both youth and adults.

With this Marathon, Pregones embarks on a yearlong focus on violence prevention using the tools of Forum Theater, a format that gives audiences the opportunity to stop a play in mid-action in order to protest, question and ultimately alter the play's outcome and the fate of its characters. Throughout the year we will address the needs of five at-risk populations: teens, LGBTQ youth and adults, immigrant couples, and the elderly. The Marathon launches as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Major support is provided by The MetLife Foundation. The project is also made possible by public funds frim the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts.
